CARE South Sudan’s experience in HIV and AIDS programming combines experiences in Grants management, Coordination and effective delivery of HIV prevention, treatment and care projects, direct implementation roles in all components of the response (prevention of new infections, quality of life for infected and affected as well as programs targeted at mitigation of socio-economic impact). These experiences have been augmented by CARE South Sudan’s nationwide expertise in HIV and AIDS programs and where cross country learning and sharing, as well as technical support is enhanced.

HIV and AIDS initiatives are also mainstreamed into projects in livelihoods, humanitarian assistance, education and community managed Micro-Finance program.

CARE South Sudan has a thematic sector in HIV and AIDS as part of the government’s priority in responding to the HIV and AIDS response in the country, in view of the contribution that the disease plays in eroding people’s capacities and investments which result to increased poverty levels.

The sector drives CARE South Sudan’s mainstreaming in HIV in other thematic sectors including livelihood projects and humanitarian response. This sector has a team of professionals and has managed large programs in HIV and AIDS with significant success
